You’ve seen the banners. You’ve clicked the ads. "Free Child Places!" they scream in bold, neon-bright fonts, promising the ultimate family escape for a fraction of the price. It sounds like the holy grail of family holidays, doesn’t it? The dream of whisking the kids away to a sun-drenched paradise without your bank account taking a massive hit is an intoxicating one.

But here at Raheem Tours, we’ve spent years behind the scenes of the travel industry, and we believe you deserve a little more than marketing slogans. We believe in visionary travel, which starts with total transparency. Before you book that "bargain," let’s pull back the curtain on how these offers actually work. Is it a genuine gift from the travel gods, or just clever math designed to make you feel like you’re winning?

Let’s find out.

🤫 The Not-So-Secret Math of "Free"

The first thing you need to know is a universal truth in travel: nothing is ever truly free. When an airline or a hotel offers a free child place, they aren't just eating the cost of that seat or bed out of the goodness of their hearts, they’re running a business.

In many cases, the cost of that "free" child is simply redistributed. You might find that the base price for the two full-paying adults is higher than it would be on a standard package. Or perhaps the "free" place is only available on specific dates where the hotel has excess capacity, the dates you probably don’t want to travel.

It’s a classic marketing hook. "Child goes free" sounds much more exciting than "15% off your total booking," even if the final number at the bottom of your invoice is exactly the same. At Raheem Tours, we prefer the honest route. We’d rather find you a deal that is genuinely lower in total cost than one that uses flashy labels to hide a standard price tag.

🧐 Jargon Buster: "Stay Free" vs. "Place Free"

One of the biggest traps in the industry is the confusion between "Kids Stay Free" and a "Free Child Place." They sound identical, but in the world of all inclusive holidays, the difference can be worth hundreds of pounds.

  • Kids Stay Free: This is usually a hotel-only perk. It means the hotel won't charge you for the extra bed in the room. However, you still have to pay for the child’s flights, their transfers, and often their meals. If you're booking a DIY holiday, this "freebie" can disappear quickly once you add a £300 flight and £50 for baggage.
  • Free Child Place: This is the "big one" usually offered by major tour operators. It typically covers the flight, the accommodation, and the board (food and drink) for one child when two adults pay full price.

While the "Free Child Place" is a much better deal on paper, it’s also the one with the most fine print. You’ll often find it’s only applicable to the youngest child, so if you have a teenager and a toddler, the teen is still full price, and it’s strictly limited to one free place per room.

🚩 The "Cheap All Inclusive" Trap

We all love a bargain, and the hunt for cheap all inclusive holidays is practically a national sport. But there’s a danger in chasing the lowest number at any cost. Many of the resorts that offer the most aggressive "Free Child Place" deals are what we call "loud" resorts.

You know the ones. Crowded buffet lines, plastic cups, and music blaring by the pool from 9 AM. If that’s your vibe, that’s great, but at Raheem Tours, we specialize in something different. We look for beautiful hotel locations that aren't too lively. We believe your family holidays should be about connection and relaxation, not navigating a sea of sunbeds just to find a spot in the shade.

When you see a deal that looks too good to be true, ask yourself what’s being sacrificed. Is the food going to be amazing, or will it be the same lukewarm pasta every night? Are the transfers going to be a three-hour bus journey with fifteen stops, or a smooth, direct ride? We focus on making dream holidays a reality, which means we often provide upgraded transfers and hand-pick hotels where the food is actually a highlight of the trip, not an afterthought.

📅 Timing is Everything (And It’s Usually Tricky)

The biggest irony of the "Free Child Place" is when they are available. Most families are tied to the school calendar, those precious weeks in July, August, and the half-terms. This is exactly when demand is at its peak, and exactly when tour operators are least likely to give away seats for free.

A "free" place in mid-May is great for a family with a toddler, but it’s useless for a family with a ten-year-old in school. If you do find a free place during the summer holidays, you’ll often find the adult prices are spiked to compensate.

This is why we encourage our clients to look at the total value. Sometimes, booking a high-quality boutique hotel that doesn't offer "free" places, but has a lower overall price for the family suite, is the smarter move. It’s about looking beyond the postcard and seeing the real value of your time and money.

✨ The Raheem Tours Approach: Transparent Luxury

We don't just sell tours; we curate experiences. Our philosophy is built on the idea that travel should be visionary and inspirational. You aren't just a booking number to us, you’re a family looking to create memories that will last a lifetime.

When we look at all inclusive holidays, we aren't just looking for the word "Free." We’re looking for:

  • Authenticity: Hotels that reflect the local culture, whether it's a riad in Morocco or a seaside retreat in Turkey.
  • Quality: Resorts where "All Inclusive" means high-end dining and premium spirits, not just a wristband and a fountain soda.
  • Ease: From the moment you land, we want you to feel taken care of. That’s why we often handle the last-minute holiday bookings that others find too difficult and ensure your transfers are seamless.

If you’re planning a trip to Turkey, for example, we’ve put together a guide on what you really need to know before you book. You can find that insider knowledge right here: Turkey All Inclusive 2026: 10 Things You Should Know.

💡 How to Find Real Value for Your Family

If you want to ensure you're getting a genuine deal and not just a marketing trick, follow these steps:

  1. Ignore the "Free" Label Initially: Look at the total price for your entire family for the whole duration. That is the only number that matters.
  2. Compare Like-for-Like: If a "Free Child Place" holiday costs £3,000, find a similar hotel without the offer and see what the total is. You might be surprised to find the "non-free" option is actually cheaper.
  3. Book Early (Like, Now): The few genuine free child places that exist for school holidays are usually snapped up 12–18 months in advance. If you’re looking for a deal three months before summer, "free" is almost certainly a marketing adjustment.
  4. Check the "Under-Occupancy" Fees: Some hotels will give you a free child place but then charge you an "under-occupancy supplement" because you're only putting three people in a room designed for four. It’s a classic move to claw back the discount.
  5. Talk to an Expert: A travel agent who knows the hotels intimately: someone who knows which resorts have the best food and which ones are just "lively" traps: is worth their weight in gold.

🌅 Timeless Travel, Whenever Wherever

At the end of the day, a holiday is an investment in your happiness. Whether it’s one of our Adventure Tours, a serene Honeymoon and Romancing Package, or a classic Beach Holiday, the goal is the same: to return home feeling enriched, not exhausted by the feeling that you were "sold" a gimmick.

We believe in travel that is beautifully guided and curated for the individual. If you’re tired of the "Free Child Place" circus and want a holiday that focuses on real luxury, amazing food, and tranquil locations, you’re in the right place.

Let’s make your dream holiday a reality: without the marketing smoke and mirrors.
